COMPREHENSIVE EYE CARE
Regardless of age and physical health, it is recommended for you to have an eye examination every year to determine your prescription for eyeglasses and contact lenses, assess your eyes' ability to focus and work together as a team, check your eyes for common eye diseases (such as glaucoma, cataracts and age-related macular degeneration) and evaluate your eyes as an indicator of your overall health.
Drs. Murphy and Tantsits are passionate about offering the most up-to-date technology to better serve our patients. Patients are offered retinal photography (using the Optos Imaging System) to assist in retinal disease detection without using drops and macular pigment optical density measurement to assess for an eye health factor called macular pigment. Low macular pigment is a risk factor for age-related eye health complications associated with glare, bright light and night driving.
MACULAR DEGENERATION SCREENING
We are a proud to be a Center of Macular Degeneration Excellence and were one of the first offices in Saint Louis to offer the AdaptDx to help screen and manage patients at risk for/or have age-related macular degeneration.
Although there is no cure for macular degeneration, Drs. Murphy and Tantsits work closely with our patients to monitor and reduce the progression of the disease through diet modification, AREDS2 eye supplementation and regular follow-up visits.
CONTACT LENSES AND MYOPIA MANAGEMENT
Thanks to the advances in optical technology, almost everyone is a candidate for contact lens use. This includes patients with astigmatism and also those who prefer bifocal or multifocal lenses. At our office, we offer a comprehensive array of contact lenses to suit each individual patient's needs. We offer daily disposables, extended wear soft lenses to gas permeable contact lenses. We offer regular and custom lens services for both healthy and difficult to fit patients.
We are also now certified providers for MiSight, the first and only FDA approved lenses proven to slow the progression of myopia in children age 8-12. These daily disposable contact lenses help patient's see better, but also helps protect their vision from getting worse as they grow.
